Coronavirus and the Bay - Update 28 June 2020

We are pleased to announce that the Club will be reopening, albeit in a limited manner, from Saturday 4th July.
The bar will be open serving drinks for outside consumption as indicated below and other activities will be underway. Following a detailed risk assessment new procedures are in place for regular cleaning and accessing the pavilion, toilets and bar. Please follow the posted instructions. The kitchen and changing rooms remain closed for the foreseeable future. Pending further relaxation of the guidance the pavilion is not to be used for socialising, drinking etc. and the 2m social distancing remains in force and all are asked to respect this for the comfort and safety of your fellow members. Veranda socialising is also severely restricted to ensure safe access and exit to and from the pavilion and this will severely curtail capacity should the weather not be friendly. Access to the toilets is from the pavilion and exit via the back door. Disabled access is unchanged. Please respect others and keep the 2m distancing.
Saturdays commencing 4th July – bar open from 17:00 till 21:00 unless attendance warrants different.
Sundays commencing 5th July – bar opens 12:30 until 18:00
Monday 6th July – Colts training from 18:00, Rugby summer training and MG Club meetings restarting from 20:00.
Petanque has already restarted with limited numbers to ensure social distancing on most days of the week. Details available from the Petanque Section.
Cricket nets have restarted again with limited numbers, details available from the Cricket Section. The nets have been hired out for specialised coaching on Fridays and Saturdays. We are waiting for the ECB deliberations on the restart of cricket and to what extent there will be a league season.
Rugby summer training on Monday evenings at the Bay with a second session in Hertford for those with transport difficulties. It is too early to speculate on the likely start date for the new season.
Music Clubs – unfortunately there can be no live music nor social events in the pavilion at this time.
As with other licensed premises we are required to maintain a log of attendees and contact details of all visiting the Club to assist any NHS Track and Trace should it be necessary.. Please help by providing the information for yourself and any guests as requested.
We are under no illusion that the risks of Covid contamination have been totally eliminated. Therefore there will be restrictions regarding behaviour inside the pavilion and a careful system of serving to minimise risk to our members and especially bar staff. Nevertheless we are confident that an enjoyable social gathering can be held safely and you are welcome to attend.
Obviously, the club has suffered during the lockdown period, as have our members, and we are delighted to be able to take a small step towards whatever now counts as normality and look forward to meeting again at the Bay.
