BOTANY BAY CRICKET CLUB
I hope you all had an enjoyable Christmas and, despite the current restrictions, are all wintering well. It is safe to say, the Cricket Committee is raring to go and are doing everything possible to ensure that the 2021 season is one to remember both on and off the field. The kind of thing to look forward to that I think we could all do with at the moment.
We continue to look for businesses who would be willing to support us this season through sponsorship. As expected, we have found it difficult due to a lot of businesses financial constraints. A special thanks to James Newhall for organising some sponsorship through a friend’s business, if anyone else can approach personal contacts, it would be greatly appreciated. Every little helps, and it is safe to say the packages detailed below are more than ‘negotiable’:
Botany Bay Fantasy Cricket League
We have seen some solid uptake from individuals who wanted to get in early and sort out their fantasy team. Please support this fundraising effort if you can, it’s all money for the club at the end of the day and a decent prize too. For anyone who isn’t confident in creating their own team, I have a select number of ‘managers’ who would be willing to either support you or manage the team on your behalf. The usual Bay tipping currency may apply… (A pint of lager)
Entry is £20 with a prize-pot estimated to come in around the £250 mark. To enter, transfer £20 to:
Name: Mr C R Marchant Account Number: 15129959
Sort Code: 07-02-46 Reference: SURNAME
Then email firstname.lastname@example.org where the fantasy league link will be provided.
The fabled BBCC cricket tour has been revitalised and initially, again COVID permitting, a ‘short tour’ has been arranged to Sussex from 15th-18th April 2021. Accommodation is being organised ad-hoc by groups/individuals (mainly through Airbnb as it provides redundancy should national restrictions prevent travel). We currently have 2 fixtures (1 x 40 over and 1 xT20) confirmed with the possibility of one more. Everybody is welcome, to confirm your place or for more details, including accommodation arrangements, contact email@example.com. There is early chatter about an overseas tour for our 125th anniversary in 2024, so keep your ears to the ground on that.
A big thank-you to all those who have already either paid their subs or set-up a standing order. A reminder that standing orders set up in January or full payment by 31st March will be rewarded with a shiny new playing shirt, with updated club logo, for the start of the season. Details below:
Full Member £12.50/month by standing order or £150 in full
Student/Apprentice: £6/month by standing order or £72 in full
Account Name: Botany Bay Cricket Section Sort Code: 05-04-27
Account Number: 33759342 Reference: Name of Player
As always, we remain committed to being an inclusive club and individuals should never be excluded due to financial constraints. Please contact the cricket treasurer firstname.lastname@example.org, in confidence, if this applies to you.
Our social media has begun gathering some momentum and more and more content is being released. It is greatly appreciated if, as many as possible, support our social media endeavours as it has a positive impact on the club in terms of recruitment and exposure.
Dates for the Diary
We are very close to achieving a full-compliment of fixtures and full details will be released in the near future, with Fixture Cards available just before the season. All league fixtures have been released and can be found at www.hertsleague.co.uk. You may wish to keep the following dates in your diary clear:
15th-18th April 21 – Club Tour to Sussex (Details Above)
Sat 24th April 21 – Pre-Season Club Day (Intra-Club fixture, BBQ, last seasons awards, Photographer)
Sat 1st May 21 – 1st XI Vs Bentley Heath @ Home, 2nd XI Vs TBC @ Away
Sat 8th May 21 – First Weekend of League Season
Sun 9th May 21 – First Sunday Fixture Vs Enfield Rosaneri

We are all hoping that with enough positive energy and blind hope, we will be in a position come April, to get a full season in safely. Should anybody have any questions, comments or bright ideas, please get in touch with any of the committee. To all, Stay at Home, Protect the NHS, Save lives and… as a side note, the more chance of it being safe to start the cricket season 😉.
